Alarming Brain Damage Risk from BPA and BPS, say scientists
Endocrine disrupting chemical BPA (bisphenol A) and BPS (aka, BPA-Free; bisphenol S) which allows manufacturers to now list their food and drink containers and other products* as “BPA-Free” on the labels, is causing concerns among scientists that these chemicals could “seriously damage” human brains.
Additives in Processed Meat may Increase Risk for Dementia
According to the results of a new scientific study eating processed meat has been linked with an increased risk of developing dementia.
BPA-Free? More Scientists find that BPA Substitutes are Worse
Researchers again report that BPA substitutes (BPS and BPF) are as bad or worse than BPA. In the latest study, prenatal exposure for the BPA-substitute chemical BPF was associated with impaired cognitive development in children.
Dangerous Levels of Toxic Heavy Metals Found in Baby Food: Report
U.S. congressional investigators found “dangerous levels of toxic heavy metals” in certain baby foods that could cause neurological damage.
Brain Shrinkage, Memory Problems, Depression Linked to Air Pollution Chemicals
Two separate scientific studies have revealed some sobering news about the link between air pollution chemicals and serious brain harm. In the first study, higher exposures to air pollution chemicals were associated with increased depressive symptoms and subsequent memory decline. In the second study, people who had higher levels of air pollution exposure had more brain shrinkage–the kind of shrinkage commonly seen in people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
Neurological Disorders Significantly Linked with Chemicals in Air Pollution
The results from a long-term study revealed a significant link between air pollution and an increased risk of hospital admissions for several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementia-related conditions.
Soybean Oil Linked to Obesity and Neurological Problems
New research findings have revealed a dirty secret in this widely used industrialized food additive: Soybean oil can not only lead to obesity and diabetes in some people (something that has been suspected for some time), but it also appears to have the potential to trigger neurological problems–which could potentially lead to conditions like autism, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and depression.
Potent Neurotoxin Added to Popular Spice
New study reveals that popular spice turmeric is being adulterated with lead, a potent neurotoxin.
Maine becomes first US state to ban Styrofoam
Styrofoam containers are harmful to humans, animals and the environment. Scientific research has demonstrated that the toxic chemicals (Benzene and Styrene) in Styrofoam (polystyrene) leach into our food (this is especially true with hot drinks and foods and red wine) where they act as neurotoxins adversely affecting the brain and nervous system. Additionally, Styrofoam cannot be recycled and is accumulating in landfills where it breaks down leaving its toxic chemicals to harm wildlife, marine life and the environment.
Now one state has decided to take action to reduce the amount of Styrofoam on the planet. Maine has just become the first U.S. state to officially ban Styrofoam containers outright.
